First of all let me congratulate you; by posting a message on a search board, you've taken the right steps in finding employment, but keep in mind for every one job there's probably 12 to 15 people looking for the same line of work. Your best bet is to check the site boards often, keep your eyes open, and network with the people that you are closest to even if it is just newfound friends on this type of a board!
To get your feet wet so to speak you might start out looking in your local classified sections of online advertisements like Craigslist, they offer such a wide variety of gig work, you'll find enough to keep you busy locally for a while especially in the Dallas TX area.
The degree of success I have had in the short five or six months I have been doing this, I have found the most helpful tips and tricks for the people who have also frequented these boards. I wish you good luck in your search!
